While I'm on the subject of old adverts:

I think it was in June 2004 when I heard a radio ad from Burger King for the new BK Chicken Caesar.

The ad starts with Shakespeare's "Friends, Romans, Countrymen..." speech from the play "Julius Caesar"

Two things wrong with this:

1. That speech was made by Mark Anthony, not Julius Caesar. Caesar was unavailable for comment because he was dead at the time.

2. Caesar salad is so called because it uses Caesar dressing. Caesar dressing was created in 1924 by Italian chef Caesar Cardini at his restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico, not by Julius Caesar in Rome 44 BC.

Am I the only one who gets angry at things like this?

"Stick it on your Pud"

Way back in 1993, when I was a young feller of 20, there was a wonderful advert on TV for Lyle's Golden Syrup.

It featured these odd-looking spoon characters who were drizzling golden syrup on a host of foodstuffs, including Pud. The soundtrack was a little ditty explaining the various things that you could and should stick your syrup on (including Pud).

The tune had been running around in my head for a few days, so last night I searched for the lyrics on Google, and was delighted to find the actual advert on YouTube.

Have a look at the video, and marvel at the number of different things you can stick it on, including Pud.
